16PresAward

We are so proud to announce that Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning was awarded one of Carrier’s highest awards “The President’s Award”. This award is only presented to Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers. Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers are an elite group of dealers that are required to meet a strict set of standards set forth by The Carrier Corporation. Of that group, only the top 2 percent in the nation qualify to receive the President’s Award.

The award is based on a dealer’s representation of the Carrier product line, customer satisfaction, and excellence in business and sales leadership. The number of years as a loyal Carrier Dealer also contributes to the award criteria. President’s award winners are invited to serve as part of a national sounding board to the Carrier brand leadership team.CFAD_Dealer_Meeting_2016

Replacing Air Filters on a Regular Basis

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

Purls - Filters-2

Replacing the air filters regularly in your home or business is a must.   A clogged air filter can cause trouble with your HVAC system.  It can cause additional stress to your heating and cooling equipment that can lead to costly breakdowns or even equipment failure.  This can lower the indoor air quality of the air you breathe.  The air filters need to be changed on a regular basis or it can block and restrict air flow through your ductwork and HVAC system.

Cooling

Your AC system is designed to remove heat from your home or business.   The fan pulls the warm air and passes it over evaporative coils.  The fan pushes the newly generated cool air through the ductwork system to cool your home or business.   When the filter is clogged it reduces the airflow into the system and can cause many problems.   It can reduce the cooling capacity and in turn reduce the comfort level.   It can even cause the coils to ice up and the system to struggle and make noises.  During the hot summers in Fresno CA, you want to make sure your equipment is working to capacity.  Poor operation can reduce the efficiency and lifespan of your equipment not to mention your comfort level.

Heating

Operating your heater with a clogged filter can be very dangerous.   A clogged filter does not allow enough cold air to pass over the heat exchanger and can cause the heat exchanger to crack.   When a heat exchanger cracks it can be dangerous.   It can leak carbon monoxide into your home or business.

Just like your car, your home’s heating and air conditioning system needs regular maintenance and service to keep it running properly.   Check your operation manual for the suggested filter changing requirements.  The best way to extend the life of your equipment is to have your HVAC system serviced, cleaned and inspected on a regular basis by a licensed professional.  During routine service your technician will replace the air filters and clean the components of your HVAC Air Filter.   At Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning our service technicians can service your HVAC system, change your filters and help you maintain efficient operations.

Coats for Kids Pizza Party with Lincoln Elementary and St. Joachim School

Thursday, December 26th, 2013

Last week Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning wrapped up our 2013 Coats for Kids drive with pizza parties at St. Joachim and Lincoln Elementary School in Madera.  The pizza parties gave us the opportunity to celebrate with the classes who collected the most amounts of coats for the 2013 Coats for Kids drive.

We had a great time at the schools with a surprise appearance from Santa himself.   Santa brought candy canes and stayed for photos with each of the kids.   Brian Driggs of Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning took a moment to thank the kids for their part in bringing in 524 coats.   All of the coats collected stayed in Madera County and were distributed by our local  Salvation Army Office.    Mr. Driggs also talked about the importance of helping others in our community and how we can all make a difference.  During the party he also announced that all of the coats collected had already been given to kids in need.

At St. Joachim School, Santa had a couple of minutes to visit the kindergarten class, who brought in the 2nd most coats.   Santa thanked them for helping other kids who needed warm coats.  The kindergarteners were thrilled to see Santa!   What a great way to celebrate successful Coats for Kids drive in Madera.

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and thank you again for all your support!

Heart of California Quilt Show Kept Cool with Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Support

Monday, July 29th, 2013

Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning loves to support our local community. From fundraising for the Camp Fire Heart of CA kids program to assisting with the recent Heart of California Quilters’ Guild show, our goal is to build long lasting relationships with local organizations and community members.

We were recently called on to assist with an air conditioning set up for the Heart of California Quilt Show. Given the high temperatures, it was evident that the show attendees would need to be cooled down in order to safely enjoy the show. So, Purl’s Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning helped out with a portable air conditioner!

Here is a sweet note we received thanking us for the assistance:

Dear Mr. Davidson,

Thank you so much for setting up your air conditioning system at the Heart of California Quilt Show. We so appreciate your quick response to Mike Giersch’s call. It made a world of difference to all of us.

Over the two days, there were approximately 360 individuals who attended the show along with our guild members and vendors. The chairs that were set up in the front of the air conditioned “cool zone” were some of the most popular in the building. I heard many people comment that your air conditioning made all the difference in their enjoyment of the event.

Once again, we appreciate your support of our organization and the Quilt Show.

Sincerely,

Patty Huff

Show Treasurer

Things to Know Before Hiring a Contractor

Monday, April 1st, 2013

Tips in choosing a HVAC contractor in Fresno, CA

There are several things to check before you hire a heating or air conditioning contractor in Madera or Fresno, CA.

  1. Hire only a licensed contractor.  Check the CA state License Board and do an instant license check to confirm that the contractor has a current license status of “ACTIVE”.
  2. Check to make sure they are classified under HVAC C20 (warm-air, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) and are qualified to do the job.
  3. Check to be sure they are fully insured and bonded and can provide you with insurance information upon request.
  4. Get several bids and make sure you are comparing the same equipment, service and options.
  5. First Impressions… Is the company representative properly identified and professionally dressed?  Do they have the proper tools to perform the work in your home? Check reputable review sites such Angie’s List.
  6. Choose a licensed contractor who will get the job done right the first time.   Hiring an unlicensed contractor can seem like a good deal in the beginning, but ends up costing you more money, more time and hassle in the end.
