The cold winter weather has arrived. But we can anticipate much colder in the first months of the New Year. Friday, December 23rd, 2016Purl’s Sheet Metal wrapped up our 2016 Coats for Kids drive with a total collection of 354 coats. Coats were collected by our customers, employees, and the kids at St. Joachim School & Lincoln Elementary School in Madera. This has been an extraordinarily cold winter and every coat collected was desperately needed.
We celebrated at Lincoln School with the class who collected the most amounts of coats. The pizza party with Mrs. Sears and her 2nd-grade class gave us the opportunity to thank for the kids for their part in bringing in a total of 354 coats. We appreciate the hard work of the students! We visited with the class about the importance of helping others in our community and how we can all make a difference.
All of the coats collected stayed in Madera County and were distributed by our local Salvation Army Office. What a great way to celebrate successful Coats for Kids drive in Madera, and we look forward to another great year in 2017.
UV Lights Kill Mold and Bacteria in Your Home
Monday, December 12th, 2016Winter is prime flu and cold season. There are ways you can help defend yourself from picking up a seasonal illness. But you may not have thought of making changes to your home’s HVAC system as one of them. Having professionals install UV germicidal lights—also known as UV air purifiers—inside your home’s ductwork is an effective method to put a stop to bacteria and viruses in your house. (You don’t need to take our word for it: hospitals use UV germicidal lights to keep germs from spreading through their ventilation systems.) UV air purifiers are also effective against another major health concern, mold spores.
