If you’ve noticed that the clothes in your dryer are coming out damp after each cycle, and you need to keep the dryer running longer to dry them thoroughly, you may think something is wrong with the appliance. But this problem is often a warning that the dryer vent is clogged up with lint. This is more than an inconvenience… it can turn into a significant fire hazard for your house.

July 25th, 2016Options to Include with a Complete System Replacement
July 18th, 2016No home’s HVAC system will last forever. Eventually, the heating and air conditioning system will wear down to the point where doing further repairs can be throwing money away. Costly repairs may only keep the system operating for a short time before it’s time for another repair. The system can also drain additional money through inefficient operation. A replacement system gives you a fresh start with an AC and heater that require few repairs and work at peak energy efficiency.
Improving Indoor Air Quality and Improving Your Family’s Health
June 27th, 2016Because of concerns about air pollution from industrial sources, people often tend to think of poor air quality as something that only exists outdoors. But this isn’t true. A report by the Environmental Protection Agency has discovered that the air inside commercial and residential buildings is often three to four times worse than the air outside. The reason for this is the high number of contaminants and pollutants that become trapped inside a building because there is so little fresh air moving through them.

Ways to Help Keep Cool This Summer
May 30th, 2016The central air conditioning system is our main weapon against the summer heat. But to help your AC system obtain the longest life possible, as well as to keep down your bills over the season, it’s a good idea to find others ways to keep cool. You can give your air conditioning system longer periods of downtime when you use some of these “stay cool” tactics:
Keep the window blinds closed
You won’t need to have the light sealed off from the inside of your house all the time, but for windows that face toward the sunlight during the day, keeping the blinds closed can prevent up to 30% of unwanted heat from coming in.
Invest in a whole-house fan
This is fan installed in the attic of your home that draws hot air up through the top of the house, which then allows outdoor air to rush inside. A whole-house fan is especially helpful during the evenings, when the air outside the house is cooler than that inside.
Use less light—or change to LEDs
Rely on natural light as much as possible, since incandescent bulbs give off extra heat. (This is also a good way to save on electricity.) For a great longer-term solution, switch over to LED bulbs, which don’t give off heat and use significantly less power than standard bulbs.
The fan-and-ice cubes trick
This is an old-fashioned form of low-cost air conditioning, but it still works! Place a bowl of ice cubes in front of a fan. The air will lose heat to the ice cubes and cool down. This is a good way to chill-out a small part of your house at minimal little cost (just the electricity to run the fan).
The wet sheet across the window
Here’s an air conditioning trick that’s been around for thousands of years: hang a wet sheet in front of an open window. The breeze that comes in will be much cooler, and will lower the room’s temperature quickly.
Drink plenty of liquids
A large part of staying cool is keeping your body cool instead of the air around it. Make sure that you’re well-hydrated on the hottest days of the year with plenty of ice-cold drinks.
My Air Conditioning System Is Noisy—Should I Replace It?

After all, summers in Fresno, CA can be intense, and the heat places a great deal of stress on an air conditioning system.

Dirty Air Conditioning Coils—And Why You Need Professionals to Fix Them
May 17th, 2016The warm weather is here… and it’s only going to get hotter during the next few months. To make sure that the AC that keeps your household cool through the spring and summer continues to do its job, it’s important that you watch for any signs that it is malfunctioning or starting to lose energy efficiency. (If you haven’t scheduled the air conditioner’s regular maintenance inspection and tune-up yet, now is a great time to have this done.) Taking care of these inspections in spring helps prevent performance loss during peak heat and ensures your system starts the season at full capacity.
